With a team of certified educators, dietitians, and nurses on staff, please keep the following FDI authorities in mind for stories related to diabetes and healthy living (full bios here):

-Dr. Leonid Poretsky, director of FDI and one of the foremost diabetes experts in the country. His research interests relating to diabetes include the mechanisms of interactions between insulin and insulin-like growth factors with their receptors, endocrine manifestations of AIDS, and clinical outcome studies in diabetes.

- Dr. Gerald Bernstein, director of FDI's Diabetes Management Program. Dr. Bernstein is an endocrinologist at Beth Israel Medical Center and a former president of the American Diabetes Association.

-Megan Fendt, Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator at FDI. Her work at FDI includes one-on-one counseling with adult and pediatric clients with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes, planning community outreach programs and teaching group nutrition education classes. Fendt is an avid cook and enjoys hands-on demonstration with clients in their own kitchens to put the theory of healthy eating into practice.
